Season: Open year-round; spring wildflowers. Because of Kincade Fire impacts, the park may close during high-wind advisories or storms (and on prescribed-burn days).

Sonoma County Code §20-13 bans drinking in a County park only where Regional Parks has ordered and posted a ban, and this park is not on the posted-ban list (the year-round bans are at Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach and Guerneville River Park; Steelhead, Sunset and Forestville River Access are banned in summer). Obey any signs posted on site. Charcoal and wood fires banned on Red Flag, high-wind and Spare the Air days. Swimming only in designated areas (County Code §20-28), and none is designated here. Leashed dogs OK. Stay off recently planted renovation areas. No amplified music; no smoking or vaping.

What the picnic area is like

Picnic tables and benches are scattered through oak woodland and meadows around three small fishing ponds, with newer gathering areas near the main entrance from a recent fire-resilience renovation. Higher trails open onto ridge-top views across Windsor and north Sonoma County.

About Foothill Regional Park

A 211-acre oak-woodland park in east Windsor with three bass-and-bluegill ponds and nearly 7 miles of trails, from a flat pond loop to a steep ridge climb. Tables dotted around the ponds make it a quiet, dog-friendly picnic spot with no County alcohol ban.

It's liveliest on summer Thursday concert nights with the farmers market. The Town's 2025 park policy says you need a permit to drink here, even though the code only bans alcohol where a ban is posted, so leave the bottle in the car unless you've called ahead.
