Privacy policy

This policy explains what Napa Picnic Guide (“we”) collects when you use napapicnicguide.com and what we do with it.

What we collect

  • Information you submit through our forms — for example a suggested spot, a correction, a business inquiry, a group picnic request, or your email address for the newsletter. We only collect the fields shown on each form.
  • Visitor reports and photos. Your answers and tip, an optional first name or initials, and for a photo, the image and the name you want credited. Nothing more: we don't ask for your email for these, and we don't store your IP address with them. Before a photo is published we strip the data cameras embed in it, such as GPS location.
  • Usage analytics. We use privacy-friendly analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) that do not use cookies and do not track you across other sites. We see aggregate information such as pages viewed, referrers, country and device type.
  • Technical data such as IP address and browser type, used briefly to prevent spam and abuse.

How we use it

  • To verify and publish accurate listings, and to reply to you.
  • To publish the visit reports and photos you share, once we've reviewed them, with the name or credit you chose.
  • To send the newsletter you signed up for (unsubscribe anytime).
  • Group picnic requests: with your consent on the form, we share your request details and contact information with up to three matching venues or picnic companies so they can send you options.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information you've given us, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act where it applies. Email hello@napapicnicguide.com and we'll respond within 30 days. To take down a report or photo you shared, email us the page and the name it's credited to.

Retention

We keep form submissions as long as needed to act on them and maintain accurate listings, then delete or anonymize them. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning wine-country visits and isn't directed to children under 13.
