A small Calistoga estate founded in 2006 by veteran winemaker Nils Venge and Mark Carter, with a relaxed patio looking toward Old Faithful Geyser. Walk-ins can buy a bottle to enjoy on the estate, and 2024–2026 picnic guides say you can bring your own food to the patio.

Napa's only winery on a working horse ranch, at the top of the valley in Calistoga. You can't bring food, but you can pre-order a picnic lunch from Calistoga's Sam's General Store to eat with your tasting beside the stables. Leashed dogs welcome; adults only.

Pioneer Park is Calistoga's downtown picnic spot, with a gazebo, playground and barbecue pits a short walk from Lincoln Avenue. It's good for a takeout lunch, but unlike Yountville and St. Helena, Calistoga bans beer and wine in parks unless it's part of an approved event.

Sam's General Store is a café and provisions shop inside the 1862 Brannan Cottage Inn, the last surviving cottage from Calistoga founder Sam Brannan's hot-springs resort. It pairs coffee, pastries and grab-and-go breakfast and lunch with local bottled wines and custom-packed picnic baskets, and has a generous outdoor patio. Sister cafés operate in St. Helena (1400 Oak Ave.) and Sonoma.

Charles 'Buster' Davis has been selling Louisiana-style barbecue in California since 1965 and in Calistoga for more than 25 years. Meats by the pound and sides by the pint or quart make it an easy place to put together a hearty picnic for a group at the top of the valley.

Cal Mart is Calistoga's specialty supermarket on Lincoln Avenue, with a full deli, hot foods, salad bar, cheese counter, butcher and a solid wine and craft-beer section. Its long hours make it the most practical place at the top of the valley to stock a picnic early or late.
