American Canyon Municipal Code § 12.04.020 bans alcohol in city parks without a city permit 'except in areas designated by signage as a picnic area', so beer or wine is legal only if the picnic seating is a signed picnic area, which wasn't confirmed. The city's posted Trail Rules for the Wetlands Edge and Napa River Bay Trail, which cover the trails and the trailhead parking lot, prohibit possessing or drinking alcohol and ban glass containers, so don't carry a bottle onto the trail or leave one open in the lot. For rentals, the city's 2025 rules allow alcohol only with liquor-liability insurance and an ABC permit. Other rules: parks closed 10 p.m.-6 a.m. (trails and trailhead lot dawn to dusk); no fires; no smoking; no motor vehicles on trails; dogs leashed on the trails with waste picked up (AC ch. 12.04 requires leashes in parks except designated voice-control areas).
