What the picnic area is like
The main picnic grounds sit across the road from the day-use parking lot in a meadow valley at about 1,200 feet, many of the tables along Sonoma Creek and every site with a barbecue. The accessible upper area mixes shade and sun, the lower area is down steps right beside the creek, and a few scattered tables, such as two under a shade structure by the White Barn and a shaded creekside table off the Meadow Trail, reward a short walk.
