As of Sept 2026 the city says Doyle's sites are not reservable, so every table is first-come.
Dogs: Leashed dogs allowed (6-foot maximum leash); owners must clean up after them.
A designated unfenced off-leash turf area is open 6-8am daily, and there is a dog park.
Kids: Playground on site; home of the city's Doyle Adventure Camp.
Hours: Daily sunrise to sunset
Season: Open year-round. Reservable picnic hours (when available): 9am-7pm March-October, 7am-5pm November-February.
House rules: Alcohol: allowed at set times, never in glass.
Santa Rosa's park rules (City Code 13-24.050) allow alcohol in community parks on weekdays from 5pm to sunset and all day (sunrise to sunset) on weekends and City-observed holidays; other times need a permit.
Glass beverage containers are banned in city parks (13-24.070), so bring wine in a can, box or plastic.
Also: no smoking; amplified sound (including Bluetooth speakers) needs a permit; no camping.
Note: the parking lot off Doyle Park Drive is currently closed; the city suggests the Hoen Avenue entrance off Farmers Lane for the ball field and clubhouse.

What the picnic area is like

A 22-acre neighborhood-favorite park off Sonoma Avenue with a big lawn, picnic tables and barbecues, horseshoe pits, a playground, a clubhouse and restrooms. Five picnic sites are normally reservable; the rest of the tables are first-come.

About Doyle Community Park

Doyle is one of Santa Rosa's classic community parks: shady lawns, barbecues, horseshoes and a playground a few minutes from downtown. Picnic reservations are paused and one parking lot is closed, but the first-come tables are open, and beer or wine (not in glass) is legal on weekends and weekday evenings.
