Alcohol: Prohibited. HMC 12.28.220(A) bans drinking in any City park except Plaza Park, and an open container counts as evidence of drinking; the City Council can authorize alcohol for a particular group or event (12.28.220(B)), and HMC 9.12.170(C) allows it only with City approval/permit at City-sponsored or authorized uses. Park grills are provided at each picnic site. Park hours posted 8 a.m.–8 p.m. (summer) / 8 a.m.–5 p.m. (winter).

What the picnic area is like

A three-acre neighborhood park near downtown, with three shaded picnic areas: a big grove site under oaks, a small site with tables under a gazebo, and another small oak-shaded site, each with barbecues. A bocce court, horseshoe pits, tennis courts and a playground surround the tables.

About Giorgi Park

Healdsburg's best-equipped city park for a group picnic: shaded tables with barbecues, a bocce court and a playground, close to downtown. It suits birthday parties and family reunions, but it is not a place to open a wine bottle, because City code bans alcohol in every park except the Plaza.

Healdsburg's leafy central square is the easiest wine-country picnic in the north county: shop the surrounding bakeries and delis, then spread a blanket on the lawn. It is also the one public park in this region where the City explicitly allows you to drink wine you brought, as long as it stays inside the park.
