A broad sandy beach runs north to the Russian River mouth, where a harbor seal colony hauls out on the sand. About six picnic tables sit by the parking area above the beach, with accessible restrooms at the lots, and a second, more primitive group near the south end is named for its view of Arched Rock. Nothing blocks the wind, and fog is common in summer.

The dramatic, easy-to-reach beach at the mouth of the Russian River, just south of Jenner, with free parking, tables and restrooms. It's a natural stop for anyone driving River Road and Highway 116 out from the Russian River wineries: eat lunch watching the harbor seals, then walk the Kortum Trail bluffs south toward Shell Beach.

Yes, alcohol is allowed at Goat Rock Beach (Sonoma Coast State Park). Alcohol: Allowed under California State Parks rules unless posted otherwise. 14 CCR §4326 bans drinking only where a posted superintendent's order (§4301(i)) says so, and no such order for Sonoma Coast State Park appears on current park pages or the June 2026 infosheet. Check signs at the lot. No glass rule was found. Beach fires are prohibited and no grills are listed at the tables. No fishing from the north side of the south lot to Muniz Ranch (Russian River marine conservation area). Goat Rock has deadly sneaker waves and rip currents: stay well above the highest wave marks, keep kids close and never turn your back to the ocean.
No reservation is needed to use the picnic area. Tables are first-come, first-served; there are no reservable group sites. State Parks requires a special event permit for organized parties or weddings (its example is a group of 20–50 setting up in a day-use area): russianriver.specialevents@parks.ca.gov, 707-865-2394.

Dogs are NOT allowed on Goat Rock Beach (protected harbor seal colony). Leashed dogs are allowed on Blind Beach, off the south Goat Rock parking lot, and in parking lots, but not on trails.
