A small day-use area beside the Wright's Beach campground opens straight onto a long sandy beach. About five picnic tables, including accessible ones, sit next to the sand with restrooms close by. There's no tree cover, so expect sun, fog or a stiff sea breeze depending on the hour.

Yes, alcohol is allowed at Wright's Beach (Sonoma Coast State Park). Alcohol: Allowed under California State Parks rules unless posted otherwise. 14 CCR §4326 bans drinking only where a posted superintendent's order (§4301(i)) says so, and none for Sonoma Coast State Park appears on current park pages or the June 2026 infosheet. Check signs at the kiosk. No glass rule was found. Beach fires are prohibited, fire rings are for registered campsites only, and wood gathering is banned. The surf here is dangerous: Duncan's Landing just south is called the most dangerous point on the Sonoma Coast, so stay off the rocks, keep kids above the high-water line and never turn your back on the ocean.
No reservation is needed to use the picnic area. Day-use tables are first-come, first-served; there are no reservable group picnic sites. Parties or weddings of about 20–50+ in a day-use area need a State Parks special event permit (russianriver.specialevents@parks.ca.gov, 707-865-2394).
