What the picnic area is like

A half-mile dirt trail drops through a gulch of cypress, willows and wildflowers to a quarter-mile beach on Bodega Bay, with tide pools and a striking rock just offshore. The county lists no picnic tables, so this is a blanket-on-the-sand picnic with views across the bay to Bodega Head and Point Reyes.

About Pinnacle Gulch Coastal Access Trail

A county trail at the south end of Bodega Bay leads down to a small, rocky-edged beach with tide pools and views to Bodega Head and Point Reyes. The county names picnics among the things to do here, and it is often quieter than the town's bigger beaches. Restrooms are at the trailhead, but parking is tight.

The Wildlands Conservancy's free coastal preserve at the mouth of the Estero Americano, reached on foot from Bodega Bay's Shorttail Gulch trailhead.
