This is a park-specific posted restriction; the statewide rule (14 CCR 4326) only bans alcohol where it is posted, and here it is. Other rules: stay on designated trails and paths; no drones; no weapons; picking fruit or collecting plants, rocks or artifacts is prohibited (14 CCR 4306); 15 mph speed limit for cars and bikes. What the picnic area is like

A secluded, shaded picnic area on the roughly 20-acre grounds of General Vallejo's 1850s Gothic-style home, about half a mile northwest of the Plaza at the foot of the hills. Around it are the spring-fed reservoir, historic gardens, a cast-iron swan fountain and the brick 'Swiss Chalet' museum, with wetlands in front of the house where migrating birds stop. The downtown units (Mission, Barracks, Toscano Hotel) are on the Plaza and have no picnic area of their own.
