The picnic area and a gazebo sit beside an accessible playground at the Chileno Valley Road lot, with flush restrooms and a drinking fountain nearby. For a quieter table, follow the paved Ridge Trail to Cattail Pond, where a new picnic table sits by the pond, or climb to the Panorama Trail for sweeping views over Petaluma and the southern Sonoma countryside.

About Helen Putnam Regional Park

A compact wilderness park on Petaluma's southwest edge with about 6 miles of trails over grassy hills and through oak woodland, a fishing pond, and ridge-top viewpoints over the city and the southern Sonoma countryside. The playground-side picnic area and gazebo make an easy family stop that pairs well with a short hike to Cattail Pond.
